Artistic Policy

Arad Goch creates exciting and relevant theatre for children and young people. We aim to create a theatrical experience that inspires, motivates and is memorable. Our work draws on indigenous Welsh material and traditions as well as contemporary and challenging themes and styles.

By touring extensively in Welsh and English around Wales, to theatres, schools, halls and centres we try to ensure that the widest possible audience, in all corners of the country, have the opportunity to see and enjoy contemporary theatre of the highest order.

We see our work in an international context, and have visited many overseas festivals to perform, adjudicate or observe. Arad Goch has translated and performed overseas productions and tries to ensure that young audiences in Wales get to see the best possible theatre.

Also, Arad Goch arranges the Opening Doors Festival here in Aberystwyth and in other towns every two years. Opening Doors is an international festival for young audiences, and there is more information on the Festival page.

To enrich the experiences of children and young people, we arrange various participatory activities - offering them opportunities to collaborate with professional artists through a variety of clubs, courses and workshops. Collaboration with groups of young people has often prompted other projects within the company’s professional work. We also arrange professional training activities for other artists, for teachers and members of the community; go to our education page to see more.

Arad Goch has been entertaining audiences successfully across Wales and beyond since 1989. We will gradually be adding information about previous productions to the what’s on page archive.

You are welcome to contact us at any time if you have any comments on our work or pictures created following a performance: go to the pinboard to see what we have received recently.

You can also contact us to discuss collaborating; the company has a long track record of collaboration with other bodies including the National Library of Wales, the Welsh Books Council, the NSPCC, Ceredigion Museum, Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin and many individual schools, community groups and theatres.

We hope that you enjoy browsing our website and our creative provision.
